Announcements
[Emergency Notification - Typhoon Contingency Plan]
Dear Attendees,
In response to Typhoon Kong-Rey approaching Taiwan, the organizing committee has decided to proceed with the event as scheduled. However, due to potential closures of public institutions on account of the typhoon, the venue has been changed to the 3rd-floor conference hall of Tainan Academy Hotel (701 University Road, East District, Tainan City; https://www.academyhotel.com.tw/en/conference.php). Staff will be available on the day of the event to guide you to the revised location.
Attendees may still travel to the venue via the high-speed rail, but please be aware that service schedules may be adjusted due to the typhoon. If you encounter any issues reaching the venue due to flight or transportation delays, the organizing team will arrange an online streaming option. The streaming link will be sent to you in the coming days.
Please refer to the event website for the latest updates. The organizers reserve the right to modify, pause, or cancel the event as necessary. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
The International Symposium on Mechanobiology (ISMB) is dedicated to promoting scientific research and education. The symposium integrates interdisciplinary information, including biology, physics, bioengineering, materials science, bioinformatics, and computer modeling. Moreover, biological mechanics is closely linked to embryonic development, aging, infectious diseases, and cancer. Thus, it provides a platform for researchers in the field to exchange ideas and facilitates in-depth discussions among scholars from various backgrounds.
This international conference has been held in Shanghai, China; Okayama, Japan; Singapore; and Sydney, Australia in the past. This year, it will take place in Tainan, Taiwan, hosted by National Cheng Kung University (NCKU). Through discussions and exchanges, the conference aims to introduce advanced research developments from both domestic and international perspectives and promote the application of biomedical research techniques and materials science.
The 5th ISMB in 2024 features notable speakers such as Martin Chalfie, the 2008 Nobel Prize laureate in Chemistry, as well as academicians and experts from different countries including the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Germany, France, Singapore, Japan and India. Their speeches are expected to inspire scholars and students from Taiwan and around the world, fostering enthusiasm for biomechanics, bioengineering, and materials science.
The conference covers a wide range of topics with rich content and novelty, including biomechanical sensing and signal transduction, molecular and cellular biomechanics, tissue and organ biomechanics, human diseases and regenerative medicine, bioengineering, synthetic biology, biophysics, and more. It is hoped that through this symposium, Taiwan's academic and industrial vision will be enhanced, and the international visibility of Taiwan's biomechanics field will be expanded, further promoting this international event.
